Play with Art.
A collaboration between original artwork by illustrator Numata Zombie!? and the glass mousepad technology cultivated by AIMPAD.
This is art for touching, using, and playing on every day, not just for display. The AIMPAD Numata Zombie!? Edition is a glass mousepad created so you don't have to compromise on either art or gaming performance.
Numata Zombie!? × AIMPAD
A unique world hidden behind vibrant colors and cuteness.
We have printed the work drawn specifically for this model onto the inside of the glass using high-definition UV printing.
Our focus was not just on reproducing fine lines. We wanted vibrant colors to stay vibrant, and delicate colors to retain their subtlety. By combining highly transparent glass with high-precision UV printing, we have brought out the colors and intricate details of the artwork as much as possible.
Since the printed surface is on the inside of the glass, it will not come into direct contact with your mouse or arms while you play.
Whether you're using it on your desk or propping it up for display, this is an AIMPAD you can enjoy as a work of art.
ARTIST — Numata Zombie!?
An illustrator who depicts cute, macabre, and grotesque motifs with a unique sensibility.
Held his first solo exhibition "CHIMERA" in Shibuya in 2023. He also creates impressive work in the music and art scenes, including the music video for Ado's "Gira Gira".
For this piece, we have captured the distinct cuteness of Numata Zombie!? and the underlying sense of unease it carries on a glass mousepad.
We didn't include a logo.
Many glass mousepads feature the brand's logo. As a brand, I think that is perfectly natural.
Even so, for this AIMPAD, we decided not to include our brand logo on the glass surface.
We felt that when you place this pad on your desk, what should be there is not the assertion of a brand, but rather the work of Numata Zombie!? and your own workspace.
The copyright notice required for the work is included. However, we felt there was no need for AIMPAD to bring anything beyond that into the artwork.
Rather than asserting who made the product, we want you to just enjoy the art you love.
AIMPAD creates products for that exact purpose.
Fast. Yet, easy to stop.
With this AIMPAD, our goal wasn't simply "speed."
We wanted a surface that feels light at the start of a movement and smooth during rapid direction changes, yet allows for a natural, precise stop exactly where you intend.
It strikes a balance between speed and stopping power.
We fine-tuned the gliding surface to offer the effortless agility typical of modern high-speed glass pads, while ensuring it remains easy to control without requiring excessive hand pressure.
From minute tracking adjustments to large-scale flicks...
Rather than catering to a single specific playstyle, we designed the surface to be accessible and intuitive for a wide range of FPS players.
The gliding surface features a finish that retains the inherent smoothness of glass while offering a subtle, tactile texture. This provides delicate feedback to your hand as you move the mouse, allowing you to actively sense and control its movement rather than just letting it glide.
The choice of a non-coated finish.
The AIMPAD gliding surface does not rely on a coating to achieve its feel; instead, the surface texture is created by directly processing the glass itself—a non-coated design.
This approach leverages the inherent durability of glass, eliminating concerns about changes in glide performance caused by coating wear.
Because this is a device used daily, we chose a design that allows you to enjoy that initial feel for as long as possible.
Not too thick, but not too thin either.
For this AIMPAD, we’ve used 2mm-thick aluminosilicate glass.
During the development phase, we actually tested even thinner glass options: less than 1mm, 1mm, and 1.5mm.
Thinner glass reduces the height difference from the desk and allows for a lighter weight.
However, as we repeated prototyping, we identified other challenges arising from making the glass thinner, such as warping, edge finishing, and stability when placed on the desk.
That’s why we chose 2mm for this model.
Within the constraints of a 2mm thickness, we finished the edges with a curve even gentler than standard 2.5D processing.
This makes the edges less noticeable even when moving your arms widely, while still avoiding making the pad unnecessarily thick.
For the base, we’ve adopted a 1mm-thick silicone base that adheres firmly to the desk. Combined with the 2mm glass, the total thickness is 3mm.
Thinness, comfort against the arms, weight, and stability when placed on the desk.
We arrived at this thickness after carefully balancing all of these factors.
Even the time spent not playing becomes art.
There is one more reason why we chose 2mm glass.
We hope that those who appreciate the illustrations by Numata Zombie!? will enjoy displaying the product as a piece of art, rather than simply using it as a mousepad.
Glass that is too thin can warp over time, especially if left standing upright for long periods. Therefore, we opted for a 2mm thickness; this strikes a balance, maintaining a profile that is easy to handle on your desk while offering greater resistance to warping.
Use it as a piece of gaming gear when you play, and as art when you aren't.
This thickness allows you to enjoy it both ways.
